Thanksgiving Cookies by Hannah Pop-Up – To start off the holiday events downtown, you can head over to PIF Cider and pick up your beautifully made and great tasting cookies by Hannah! You can pick them up Tuesday November 26th from 5-7pm. Just make sure you place your order ahead of time by clicking this link!

Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting – I don’t think anything will get you in the Christmas spirit more than the Bolenz Parade & Tree lighting in downtown Alpena! Seeing all of the neat Christmas themed floats and watching the giant downtown Christmas tree light up is truly magical. Make sure you and the kiddos stay until the end to see the arrival of Santa! The parade begins at 5:30pm on Friday November 29th and will go down Chisholm St through Second Ave.

Small Business Saturday in Downtown Alpena – If it wasn’t for small businesses then downtown Alpena wouldn’t be what it is today. So what better way to show your support than shopping for Christmas gifts downtown! On Saturday November 30th from 10am to 6pm, shop for clothes, locally made artwork, home gifts and so much more! You can also grab lunch or dinner while you shop and even enjoy live music in the evening! Check out our business directory for a full list of small businesses located downtown.

Sunrise Side New Years Eve Celebration – To wrap up the holiday season, join us in Downtown Alpena for our FIRST EVER Sunrise Side New Year’s Eve Celebration, hosted by HPC Credit Union & the Alpena DDA! Come to ring in the new year and celebrate new beginnings. Enjoy food and drink specials throughout the downtown at restaurants, taprooms and bars starting at 5 pm. Dance the night away with a lineup of local DJ’s from 9 pm- 1 am in the alleyway, including a special set of electronic music with Dion Stepanski. Warm up at our cozy warming stations throughout the parking lot with a Social District drink. As midnight approaches, we will have a spectacular “sunrise” celebration, where downtown will be filled with light to celebrate new beginnings in the year ahead.
