If you find yourself in downtown Alpena around the 4th of July, you will find an array of fun events and things to do! Enjoy live music thorough downtown, the 4th of July parade, fireworks and more!
2025 Summer Concert Series – On July 3rd from 7-10pm you can watch the Persuasion Band for Free at the Bay View Park Bandshell hosted by True North Radio Network! While your there you can play in their DUMB STUFF game to try and win a prize. You also have a chance to be chosen to be a finalist in their Young’s $1,000 Shopping Spree! Alpena Fireworks Show – It wouldn’t be Independence Day without a beautiful fireworks display! This year the annual fireworks show will be held July 3rd around 9:30pm. You can view the show along Lake Huron, anywhere from Bay View Park all the way down to Mich-e-ke-wis Park. For information or updates check here.

Knaebe’s Opening Day – This Thursday July 3rd you can enjoy a delicious glass of hard cider or purchase one of their jams or other retail goods from Knaebe’s in their tiny shop located in the Water Street Commons! They will be open Thursday through Sunday 11am-7pm this week and Wednesday through Sunday 11am-7pm throughout the summer. The rest of the tiny shops will also be open Thursday through Sunday 11am-6pm this weekend, except Alpena Sourdough which will be closed Sunday. HPC Credit Union 4th of July Parade – The parade will be help on July 4th and it starts at 11am at the Alpena County Fairgrounds. You can view the parade anywhere from there all the way until the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Anywhere on Chisholm or 2nd Ave downtown would be a perfect place to pop up a chair and bring the kiddos to watch the parade and celebrate Independence Day! You can find more information here.


Street Performers – If your still downtown during the evening on the 4th of July, you can enjoy some free entertainment by watching the various street performers playing throughout downtown from 6-8pm. Check out the Street Performers Facebook page for updates and lineups.


Thunder-Con 2025 – The Thunder Bay Science Fiction and Fantasy Con will be in Art in the Loft July 5th and 6th.
