Upcoming Fall Events in Downtown Alpena

Even though we’re only halfway through August it’s never too early to start thinking about fall and all of the wonderful activities that come with it! From September to November there is tons of fall activities happening downtown!

Alpenopoly Grub Crawl – The first event of the season is the Alpena Chamber of Commerce’s annual grub crawl! This real-life monopoly styled game combines the best of board game action within a grub crawl atmosphere. It will be held on Thursday September 11th, and this year’s theme is the 1950s! Shades of Fall – Next up is the Thunder Bay Arts Council Shades of Fall event on Friday September 12th from 5pm-7pm. Enjoy a back porch concert and a taste of the town! See live music from The Corn Potato String Band, have a bowl of various soups from participating downtown restaurants and more. Enjoy the tastes of fall with your family and friends! Hoptober Fest – On Saturday September 20th at 12pm head down to Hopside Brewery for their 5th Annual Hoptober Fest! They’ll have Bavarian food specials, drink specials, games and more. 1st Annual Crow Party – Enjoy this brand-new event hosted by Illuminate Wellness on Saturday September 27th from 5-7pm. Crows love trinkets, so come dressed in black or your favorite crow costume attire and bring your shiny trinkets to share with fellow trinket collectors. Witches Night Out – Come downtown and bring your coven of witches and enjoy this annual DDA event on Friday October 17th from 5pm-late. Enjoy spooky shopping specials, witchy beverages, adult scavenger hunt, a DJ and so much more! Witchy costumes are definitely encouraged! Wicked Pumpkin Contest – During Witches Night Out on October 17th from 5-8pm stop by the Sunrise Side Co-Op for this first ever event and bring your home grown weird, wild and whimsical pumpkin or even decorate one! Stop by the co-op to sign up and check the link for updates on categories and prizes!

3rd Annual Wassail Party – Go to PIF Cider and celebrate them being open for 3 years with their annual Wassail party! It will be on Saturday October 18th from 12pm-10pm and will feature live music from the Birch Road band, Bangarang Tacos, drinks specials and more! Slay the Night: Drag & Glam Makeup Class with the Queens – On Thursday October 30th from 5pm-10pm come downtown to PIFCider and turn your face into a masterpiece just in time for Halloween! Professional drag queens will guide you through full on glam, ghoulish fantasy, or fabulous camp. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional they will help you every step of the way! Drag Show & Halloween Costume Contest – Enjoy two days of fabulous drag shows and costume contests hosted by PIF Cider on Halloween weekend! Friday October 31st and November 1st from 7pm-11pm wear your best Halloween costume and grab your favorite cider and enjoy the show and enter the costume contest judged by the queens to try and win a prize! Day of the Dead – Put on your best catrina costume and join us for our 2nd annual Dia de los Muertos celebration on Saturday November 1st! Come see the live mariachi band, enjoy margaritas and other drink/food specials, check out the ofrendas on displays and much more! Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade – Wrap up fall with the final major fall event; the annual Holiday Parade and downtown tree lighting ceremony on November 28th 5:30pm hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Bring the kiddos and watch all of the beautiful Christmas themed floats come through downtown and keep an eye out for Santa at the end! Check their website for updates on when registration opens.
