2026 Fall Events in Downtown Alpena

After a long hot summer fall is finally here and there are so many events in downtown Alpena to celebrate the fall season! Many of them are annual events you’ve come to know and love and you’re not going to want to miss any of them!

Shades of Fall – Hosted by Thunder Bay Arts Council

  • The first downtown event to celebrate fall is the Shades of Fall Backporch Concert event located in the Center Alleyway behind Thunder Bay Arts. It will be Friday September 11th from 5pm-8pm. Enjoy live music from Gary Martin, Truckey Road Roughnecks and High Speed. You can also enjoy the Taste of the Town where you can try different chilis and chowders made by local participating restaurants. For more information click here!

15th Annual Alpenopoly Grub Crawl – Hosted by Alpena Chamber of Commerce

  • The second event of the season is the 15th annual Alpenopoly Grub Crawl! This real-life monopoly styled game combines the best of board game action within a grub crawl atmosphere. It will be held on Thursday September 17th from 5:30pm to 10pm, and this year’s theme is the Las Vegas! You can purchase tickets and find more information on this event here!

6th Annual Hoptober Fest – Hosted by Hopside Brewery

  • On Saturday September 19th at 12pm head down to Hopside Brewery for their 6th Annual Hoptober Fest! They’ll have Bavarian food specials, drink specials, games and more. Bring your family or friends and grab your favorite dirndl or lederhosen and have a great time! For updates and more info click here.

15th Annual Harvest Festival – Hosted by Thunder Bay Winery

  • After taking a year off last year the Thunder Bay Winery Harvest Festival is back on Saturday September 19th from 2pm to 10pm! Enjoy live music from Way Out Wayne and the Neckbenders as well as Forbidden Krush featuring Kyle Fisher. Have a delicious glass of wine or cider while you’re listening to the live music and hanging out with friends! You can find the Winery at their new location located at 215 Water Street. 2nd Annual Crow Party – Hosted by Illuminate Wellness

  • The first year was so great Illuminate Wellness brought the Crow Party back again! On Saturday September 26th at 5pm, dress in your best crow costume and bring your shiny trinkets or objects to share with fellow trinket collectors. Theres also going to be a Murder of Crows mystery to solve along with MJ Crafts and Books with their Blind Date with a Book experience! For full information and updates click here.

Witches Night Out – Hosted by the DDA

  • Come downtown and bring your coven of witches and enjoy this annual DDA event on Friday October 16th from 4pm to 11pm. Enjoy spooky shopping specials, witchy beverages, adult scavenger hunt, a DJ, live music and so much more! We will be bringing back the best witch costume contest, so make sure you dress up in your best witch attire! 4th Annual Wassail Party – Hosted by PIF Cider

  • Go to PIF Cider and celebrate them being open for 4 years with their annual Wassail party! It will be on Saturday October 17th from 12pm-11pm and will feature live music from the Birch Road band, Charles Madison, Conor Larkin and Tali Snowden! They’ll also be releasing Chapel of Ghouls and will have tacos from Bangarang Tacos Food Truck. For more info and times of each musical artist click here.

Downtown Alpena Trick or Treating & Trunk or Treat – Hosted by Alpena MSP

  • Downtown Alpena Trick or Treating and Trunk or Treat hosted by the Alpena Michigan State Police will be held on October 23rd from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Bring the kiddos downtown and get lots of candy from select downtown businesses as well as the MSP! Trunk or Treat will be held behind City Hall (corner of 1st Ave & Park Place).

Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade – Hosted by Alpena Chambers, Sponsored by Bolenz Jewelry

  • Wrap up fall with the final major fall event; the annual Bolenz Holiday Parade and downtown tree lighting ceremony on November 27th at 5:30pm. Bring your family and friends and watch all of the beautiful Christmas themed floats come through downtown and keep an eye out for Santa at the end!
